A new case of confirmed polio in Hyderabad, Nationwide Tally reaches 27

The National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) has confirmed a new case of polio in the Hyderabad district of Sindh, bearing the total number of polio cases reported across Pakistan at 27 in 2025. According to the Neoc, the Sindh has reported seven cases so far, highlighting the challenges in progress in the eradication of the paralyzing virus.

“Polio is an incurable disease that can cause a handicap for life,” the Neoc said in a statement, urging parents to make sure their children receive polio falls during each vaccination campaign.

The next vaccination training against national polio will be held from October 13 to 19, during which more than 400,000 polio workers will do door-to-door to administer the vaccine against oral polio to children under the age of five.

The Neoc stressed that the support of parents, communities, teachers, religious and media leaders is crucial for the success of the polio eradication campaign.

Despite significant progress in recent years, Pakistan remains one of the few countries in the world where polio is still paralyzing children, health authorities warning that continuous vigilance and public cooperation are essential to stop transmission.
