- The High Security SSD of Flexxon provides protection against AI against falsification
- The X-Phy Guard solution has slower speeds than consumer training but focuses on safety
- It seems intended to be a niche product because deployment on a larger market is not yet confirmed
The Singapore-based security company, Flexxon, has published what it calls the first semiconductor disc with integrated artificial intelligence safety.
Branked as an X-Phy Guard solution, the product combines an SSD with surveillance led by AI and a subscription service that costs $ 249 per year.
The reader is presented as a final defense line, with features to protect data even if other safety layers fail.
Lite, Essential and Premium editions
The device can monitor ransomware, cloning, ambient interference and temperature changes that may indicate an alteration.
If an unusual activity is detected, the device can lock and alert the user.
Access can then be restored by authentication, or in extreme cases, the data may be suffered in order to avoid unauthorized use.
Flexxon presents its SSD in high security users, including government agencies and industrial operators.
The X-Phy reader is based on PCIe NVME M.2 PCIe equipment with a Flash NAND 3D, associated with a controller performing a firmware that incorporates the company’s quantum engine of the company.
The company has not revealed exactly how its engine works, so we do not know if the system works independently of a host or is based on a combination of hardware and software processes.
The X-Phy is available in Lite, Essential and Premium editions. Lite, at the price of $ 249 per year, provides a smaller set of functionalities with ransomware monitoring and power locking.
The main thing is based on this with cloning and ambient interference detection alerts for $ 359 per year.
Premium offers the complete package, by adding temperature monitoring, falsification alerts and the option of automatically erase data, at a price of $ 489 per year.
The X-Phy is delivered with 1 TB of storage, but with sequential reading speeds up to 1700 MB / s and writing speeds up to 1,200 MB, it is well below the SSD NVME consumers who reach more than 3,000 MB / s.
Camellia Chan, founder and chief executive officer of Flexxon, said: “With innovations like the X-Phy, we will be better equipped to take advantage of the advantages of technology while protecting ourselves against the increase in cyber menaces.”
Flexxon says that he intends to extend availability beyond business customers, but there is no word about the moment when this happens.
For the moment, the X-Phy remains a niche product designed to add an additional material safety layer at a cost.
