Rawalpindi: The case suspected of killing honor in the Pirwadhai region of Rawalpindi took a new turn after the second husband of the deceased woman went to the police on Saturday evening, police announced.
The case implies the murder of a 19-year-old woman, who would have been killed in the name of a so-called honor following a verdict from Jirga, and secretly buried in a local cemetery.
The woman, married to Zia-Ur-Rehman, had left her home on July 11 with gold jewelry, 150,000 rupees in cash and her property, according to the FIR recorded by the husband on July 21.
He later learned that she had married a man named Usman, despite being married, according to the FIR.
She would have been murdered on July 16 and buried the next day.
However, in a new turn, USMAN’s second husband, USMAN, went to police late last night in the Pirwadhai region of Rawalpindi.
According to the Nikahnama (wedding form), the couple were married on July 12 in Muzaffarabad.
USMAN, from Bandi Fire, Muzaffarabad, works in a workshop near the Pirwadhai bus stand. The girl had married him on July 12 in Muzaffarabad and previously made a statement before the judicial magistrate and asked for protection against the court.
In her declaration before the court, the woman said that she had readily married Usman and revealed that her father had died, her mother had remarried and that her first husband had divorced her verbally, according to police sources.
Meanwhile, Muhammad Ilyas, the victim’s stepfather and Usman’s father, recorded a video declaration saying that he and his family lived modestly by working as workers, and he arranged Rs30,000 to 40,000 to help the victim to obtain protection against the court.
“When she asked for protection, I organized between 30,000 and 40,000 rupees and I took her to justice. I led the marriage and submitted declarations to court.
However, four days after marriage, the armed men entered their homes and have threatened family life, Ilyas said in a statement.
The family then returned the woman to her loved ones after the finalization of her marriage. Tragically, they learned two days later from his murder, he said.
Fearing that his son could be falsely involved in the murder case, Muhammad Ilyas said he had voluntarily returned to the police.
He called on the authorities to ensure his family security in the midst of threats.
