An air hostess of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) was arrested for smuggling mobile phones in the country. Customs officials at Lahore airport said they had found the phones in his possession after arriving on a flight from Abu Dhabi.
According to customs sources, the air hostess has transported dozens of expensive mobile phones on the PK 264 flight. Telephones were found during the recording of his luggage upon arrival at Lahore airport.
Customs officials said that mobile phones had been seized and that a disciplinary investigation was opened against the air hostess. The authorities continue to investigate the issue to determine the extent of the smuggling operation.
Two days earlier, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) had dismissed two crew members after a survey confirmed their involvement in a mobile phone flight.
PIA employees identified as Mohammed Mumtaz and Asifa Naaz were dismissed after a survey has found them guilty of mobile phones, PIA spokesman said in a statement.
