It’s official, a new Taylor Swift record is on the way – and the Internet becomes wild. The singer announced her next album, The life of a showgirlAugust 12, and she uses Spotify to prepare us in the next era.
In addition to the announcement of his 12th studio album – also called TS12 – a collection of strange display panels through New York and Nashville with a giant Spotify -Green code with cascade orange sequins (see below), which fans immediately spotted.

When you scan the code in the Spotify application, it takes you to a reading list organized by Swift itself titled ‘and, baby, it’s a show business for you’ – and it seems to drop subtle advice for the next version.
To start, the new Spotify Playlist is packing 22 of the biggest POP Bangers of Swift albums Red,, 1989And Reputation. By coincidence, these are all songs produced by Max Martin with whom she has not worked since 2017, which leads us to believe that her longtime collaborator Jack Antonoff will not return for TS12.
Currently, this project is still a little ambiguous, and this mysterious Spotify reading list is all we have for the moment. However, this is an interesting strategy to say the least, and I think I think that could do wonders to encourage artists to use more music streaming services for the promotion of music on platforms such as Tiktok.
How to find the new Spotify playlist of Taylor Swift
After having traveled the Spotify application for the means to find the playlist, I discovered two ways to find it.
The first is to scan the Spotify code which was teased in the display panels. Do not worry, you don’t need to be there in person and you can scan any image of the online code using the camera function in the Spotify application.
Alternatively, head to the Spotify application and go to the artist page of Taylor Swift. Scroll down until you see the “Artists’ reading lists” section and the newly organized reading list will be there. This is the easiest way to locate it, so I recommend trying this rather than scanning the Spotify code.
A new era for musical streaming?
In recent years, this is the new standard for artists to use platforms such as Tiktok to promote new music, and although Spotify has introduced the countdown of new album releases, that’s almost everything when it comes to offering artists to market their music.
At the time of the Swift album in 2022 MidnightTiktok was crucial for the deployment of the album, and each week Swift would publish a video to reveal a song from the traces list. His 2024 album The Department of Tortured Poets adopted a similar Tiktok style deployment, but its next project The life of a showgirl Was absent from the platform – for the moment.
Although the Spotify Playlist is far from rapidly being revolutionary, it is certainly a step of promotional practices that we have seen becoming the norm in recent years, while most artists immediately jump into the Tiktok train. Of course, Swift inevitably goes to other platforms as we get closer to the release date of the album, but it’s always an exciting way to launch the new era.
It is still very early in the deployment of the album – we do not even have an official release date – but after Swift was crowned the best artist in Spotify in 2024, this strategy makes sense. Will other artists compete and will they return to the use of music streaming services to promote new music instead of throwing everything on Tiktok? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
