Islamabad: In a tragic incident that has once again raised concerns about the security of social media influencers, a 17-year-old Tiktker, Sana Yousaf, was shot down inside her house in the G-13/1 sector of Islamabad on Monday evening.
The murder occurred in the jurisdiction of the Sombal police station and shocked Internet users and the defenders of rights.
Yousaf, who had more than 740,000 subscribers on Tiktok, would have been alone with his aunt at the time of the incident.
His father, a government officer, was at work, while his mother was released on the market. Her 15 -year -old brother is currently visiting their hometown of Chitral after completing his school exams. The family lived in the upper part of the house where murder took place.
According to the aunt, the suspect came to meet Yousaf and the two had a brief exchange before the shooting. The aunt told the police that she heard her niece say, “Go from here. There are cameras all around. I’m going to get you water”, a few moments before the aggressor shoots her twice in the chest.
Yousaf’s body was moved to Pims hospital for a post-mortem exam.
A case under article 302 of the Pakistan Criminal Code was recorded by her mother, who declared in the FIR that she could identify the suspect at sight. The initial surveys suggested that the accused and the victim knew each other.
In a major development, Islamabad police arrested the suspect, identified as Umar Hayat – also known under his nickname “Kaka” – in Faisalabad only 20 hours after crime.
Sources have revealed that the arrest was made possible thanks to a combination of video surveillance and modern technology sequences, including the analysis of mobile data.
Hayat, who is 22 to 23 years old and also Tiktker, confessed the murder. He claimed to be a friend of the victim. The authorities confirmed that Hayat fled to Faisalabad following the crime and is currently brought back to Islamabad for a more in -depth investigation.
Police also recovered the gun from the murder and the clothes worn by the suspect at the time of the crime.
According to investigators, video surveillance images captured Hayat slowly walking after the shooting, apparently typing his phone before storing it and running. It seems that he used a car to escape Islamabad via the highway.
Although the suspect was apprehended and admitted, the reason behind the murder remains under investigation.
This incident adds to a disturbing trend involving creators of targeted female content. In Khushab, a tiktker was recently murdered by his cousin.
Earlier this year, an influencer was found dead at home in Peshawar. In January, a teenager born in the United States was killed by her father in Quetta on her Tiktok content and her lifestyle. Last year, a similar case was reported to Sialkot, where a brother killed his sister for his presence on social networks.
Other updates are expected while the police continue their investigation and the post-mortem report is finalized.
