Aaron Rodgers will face a familiar enemy in the New York Jets in the first match of the Pittsburgh Steelers of the regular season of 2025.
Rodgers was with the jets for two years, tearing his Achilles in the week 1 of the 2023 season against the Buffalo Bills. He recovered in 2024 and produced a decent year with the jets, launching 3,897 yards and 28 affected while New York finished 5-12.

The two parties separated during the offseason while the jets welcomed Aaron Glenn as the next head coach.
Rodgers finally joined the Steelers, which makes an intriguing match to start 2025. But the quadruple MVP does not put too much stock.
“Probably far away where he could be made,” said Rodgers on Mad Dog Radio when he was asked how he would feel to face the jets of week 1. “Many things have changed there, causing the staff, obviously, I have friendships there, but it is only a game in 17, and at five o’clock on Sunday.

Rodgers added that he “really wanted, really win” with the jets. He said that running on the field of the Metlife stadium in 2023 for the first time was a “cool moment” even if he had been withdrawn four games later.
“I want it to have gone differently up there for sure, but I put everything I had. I torn my Achilles and I fought my ass to come back to inspire myself to inspire the guys and I hope to come back. I put it a lot and I am sorry that it does not work, but I am grateful for the special couple.”

The jets will trot Justin Fields as a starting quarter. Fields played for the Steelers last year, mainly in a rescue role in Russell Wilson.
