Road accidents increased across Balochistan in 2025, killing more than 400 people and injuring 30,000 people, according to the annual report released by the Medical Emergency Response Centers (MERC) 1122.
From January 1 to December 31, 2025, rescue teams responded to more than 24,000 road accidents on national and interprovincial roads. Nearly 30,000 people were injured, while more than 415 deaths were recorded.
Thousands of victims were transferred to medical facilities where 1122 rescue teams provided emergency care. National Highway N-25 (Quetta-Karachi), the most accident-prone route, with high rates of injuries and deaths reported in Mastung, Khuzdar, Lasbela, Pishin and Quetta.
Why so many incidents?
Rescue officials said the accidents were caused by driver negligence, speed, overloading of vehicles and poor road conditions. Just like the N-25 motorway, the N-50 motorway has been declared a high-risk road.
In 2024, 23,257 road accidents were recorded, causing 31,854 injuries and 416 deaths. Rescue 1122 also provided 6,267 outpatient department (OPD) services in 2024.
