The anti-monarchy group Republic was quick to share the video of King Charles being heckled in Lichfield on Monday, reiterating its demand for an investigation into Prince Andrew.
“Charles has just been heckled in Lichfield about his complicity in covering up the accusations against Andrew. It’s time to investigate Andrew,” he said on X while sharing a video of the incident.
In the video, a man is heard shouting: “How long have you known about Andrew and Epstein? Did you ask the police to cover for Andrew?
“What do you think MPs should be allowed to discuss about the royal family in the House of Commons,” asked the unidentified man.
In a statement posted on the royal family’s social media accounts, the king thanked people who were waiting for him to say hello.
The visit came days after Prince Andrew said he would no longer use the title Duke of York.
Andrew’s decision to give up his royal titles was announced by Buckingham Palace after renewed scrutiny of his alleged association with the late sex offender Jeffery Epstein.
However, the king or any other member of the British royal family made no comment on Andrew’s decision, which many observers believe was not voluntary.
