Adrian Grenier reveals what stopped him from starring in ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’

Adrian Grenier explains why he didn’t return for ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’

Adrian Grenier explained why he thinks he wasn’t asked to return for the upcoming sequel The devil wears Prada.

The actor played Nate Cooper alongside Anne Hathaway in the 2006 hit.

Grenier said Page six he would “of course” have loved to be part of the second film, which hits theaters in May.

But he thinks the negative reaction to his character may have been a factor.

“Obviously it was disappointing not to get the call to be in the sequel, but I also understand that there’s some backlash with Nate, the character, so that might have something to do with it,” Grenier said.

In the original film, Hathaway’s Andy Sachs struggled to balance his demanding job under Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep) with his personal life.

Fans criticized Nate as being immature and unsupportive, a perception Grenier admits he didn’t fully understand until years later.

He had already said Weekly Entertainment that “all these memes that came out shocked me.”

He acknowledged that at the time he may have been “as immature as Nate.”

Despite the disappointment, Grenier sees an opportunity.

“Anyway, that leaves room for a nice spinoff where Nate gets his own movie,” he joked, adding when pressed, “Obviously!”

For now, the actor is currently promoting his new short film Self-guardstreaming on Amazon Prime Video.
