Dustin Rhodes was carried on the shoulders of his professional wrestling colleagues when he captured the vacant TNT All Elite Wrestling (AEW) Championship at All In, outlasting Sammy Guevara, Daniel Garcia and Kyle Fletcher.
But Rhodes’ reign only lasted 19 days as he dropped the title to Fletcher on July 31 and later revealed he needed a double knee replacement. He was also forced to vacate the Ring of Honor Six-Man and Ring of Honor World Tag Team Championships.

As Rhodes approaches the eight-month mark since he’s been in the AEW ring, he suggested to PK Press Club Digital in a recent interview that his return is near.
“I’ve just had a double knee replacement, so these are brand new knees. They feel pretty good. I’m a little tired today from all the walking – it’s such a huge place,” he said after his dog, Beast, finished in third place at a UK dog show. “But I’ll be back probably in two or three weeks – TBS, TNT, HBO Max.”
Rhodes will return to an AEW that has been on fire since the start of the year and goes full speed ahead into his Revolution pay-per-view.

AEW has solidified itself as one of the best promotions in North America, not to mention the world, thanks to the talent on the roster and the wrestling that takes place in the ring.
“I think it’s the fact that we’re not just entertainment,” he told PK Press Club Digital. “We want to wrestle, put on the best matches possible. This is the alternative to WWE. I’ve been in WWE for 24 years, and I’ve been in AEW for seven years now, and eight more. I’m going to finish here and retire in the next two years. And then there’s still work behind the scenes as a producer.
“I love it. It’s awesome. My boss, Tony Khan, and Shad Khan, the owner of the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Fulton Football Club here, we’re doing amazing things. We’re growing every year. This is where the best wrestle. We have entertainment segments but the majority is just wrestling. That’s what’s different from the WWE product.”
