Balochistan Interior Minister Mir Ziaullah Langove on Sunday revealed that security forces have arrested an Afghan Taliban terrorist who was allegedly involved in the killing of two Federal Police (FC) personnel.

Addressing a press conference alongside Additional Chief Secretary Hamza Shafqaat and Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Aitzaz Goraya of the Counter Terrorism Department, the minister said anti-state elements had been actively engaged in conspiracies against Pakistan. However, he stressed that the country had all the necessary capabilities to counter and defeat these threats.

“Pakistan has no enmity towards Afghanistan, but any aggression against the country would invite a strong response,” he said.

The minister stressed that certain groups, already designated as terrorist organizations at the global level, had established links with specific elements. He further alleged that attempts were made to destabilize Pakistan using Afghan territory, clarifying that the state’s actions were directed against terrorism and not against Afghan citizens.

Providing operational details, Shafqaat said thousands of intelligence-based operations had been carried out over the past year. He revealed that the arrested terrorist, identified as Habibullah, was involved in the killing of two FC personnel, while his brother was said to be a commander of the banned outfit Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

Shafqaat added, “Habibullah, also known as Lalu, was re-arrested from Kuchlak area. He was previously detained but released after a month as a gesture of goodwill, after being wrongly considered a civilian. After his release, the militant returned to terrorism and was responsible for the killing of two FC members.”

The arrested suspect revealed that the group was led by an individual known as “Muslim” and had targeted Pakistani forces along the Pakistan-Afghan border.

Shafqaat further said that as part of the crackdown on illegally staying foreigners, around 960,000 Afghan nationals have been deported so far. He added that the ‘single document regime’ had been fully implemented across Balochistan to curb illegal cross-border movements and permanently dismantle terrorist networks.

He also claimed that Afghan nationals had been involved in multiple terrorist attacks in Pakistan.

DIG Goraya confirmed that a case had been registered against the suspect, who would be produced before a court. He added that the terrorist groups were operating from Afghanistan.

Shafqaat further noted that thousands of acres had been cleared through drone surveillance to eliminate militant hideouts.

The interior minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to eliminate anti-state elements, saying security forces had been working round the clock to safeguard the sovereignty of Pakistan and its citizens. He reiterated that the government had pursued a zero tolerance policy against terrorism.
