As OpenAI prepares to roll out free ads and $8 ChatGPT Go, the company has assured users that the ads will not affect ChatGPT responses and will be labeled and separated from content.
The first signs of this rollout have been spotted on Android devices, suggesting that the inclusion of ads in ChatGPT is close.
As reported on X (formerly Twitter), OpenAI designed a full-screen onboarding experience to familiarize users with ads in ChatGPT.
Although the AI giant has ensured not to share personal information with advertisers, the current chat can still influence the type of sponsored ads displayed below replies.
At the current stage, what is commendable is that users have the ability to hide ads, understand why specific ads were served, and clear their ad data.
Ads will appear as a “Sponsored” block, and tapping the overflow menu will bring up the drop-down list to hide the ad, report it, or even “Ask ChatGPT” about it.
OpenAI said: “Our mission is to ensure that AGI benefits all humanity; our pursuit of advertising still supports this mission and makes AI more accessible. »
Additionally, the company emphasized that conversations would remain private from advertisers and user data would never be sold. A new “Ad Controls” page has also been added to allow users to manage their ad history and interests without affecting their chat data.
These ads will not be displayed to users of ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise plans.
