Social media is flooded with a copy of a first information report (FIR) which allegedly shows a complaint against a man in the Ahmadi community for having distributed municipal meals during the 10th of Muharram (Ashura). Others questioned the authenticity of the FIR.

Claim
A copy of a first information report began to circulate on social networks in Pakistan, with claims that a 65 -year -old man from the Ahmadi community was arrested in the city of Gujranwala in Punjab for the distribution of Biryani on Ashura.
According to the alleged FIR, a man filed a complaint at the satellite city police station in Gujranwala on July 6 at 4:30 p.m., saying that he had seen an Ahmadi distribute free meals during the Islamic month of Muharram. The complaint was filed under article 298-C of the Pakistan Criminal Code (PPC).
Other social media wondered if the FIR was authentic and if a person can be stopped for simply distributing free food.

The FIR is indeed authentic and the man Ahmadi was arrested by the Punjab police, confirmed two officials.
A police head of the police station of the Satellite City of Gujranwala, who spoke under the guise of anonymity, confirmed to De facto check that the online circulating tree was recorded at his police station. He added that the accused man had been arrested, but refused to go into the details of the accusations.
The case was recorded under article 298-C of the Pakistan penal code, which prohibits Ahmadis from being called Muslims or to propagate their faith. However, it is not clear how this provision applies to the law to distribute free meals.
