Ajk Govt ‘failed to support’ Cashmire Cause: Gilani

Muzaffarabad:

The Azad Jammu and Cashmire (AJK) government failed to assume the “higher burden of responsibilities” concerning the cashmere dispute and the current freedom movement in the valley.

These opinions were expressed by Dr. Syed Nazir Gilani, President of Jammu and Cashmere Council for Human Rights, in a special conversation with this correspondent here on Sunday.

He noted that the inhabitants of Jammu-et-Cachemire were the main party of the plebiscite, with Pakistan as the second party. He added that the 1974 law was essentially made up of the annexation of the AJK in Pakistan.

Unfortunately, the AJK government has “miserably failed” to extend this annexation to the Jammu and the Kashmir of Indian illegal occupation (IIOJK), he added.

Dr. Gilani argued that if the AJK government had managed to unite people from all the segments of IIOJK, in particular cashmiri pandes, Hindus, Sikhs and Buddhists, around the request for the right to self -determination, it would have facilitated voting.

This, in turn, would have expanded the influence of Pakistan among the Kashmiris and would have been reflected in the plebiscite with a vote in favor of Pakistan.

However, he argued that the AJK government has not only failed to fulfill its responsibilities concerning the freedom of the IIOJK, but has also failed in the enlargement of the scope of the affiliation of the cashmiris with Pakistan.
