For the first time since last July, New York Yankees were swept away in a regular season series.
And it came against their most bitter rival.
The Boston Red Sox had the Yankees number during the weekend, winning the three games in their rivalry in Fenway Park. The final victory occurred Sunday afternoon while Brayan Bello continued the prevailing launch trend to help his Red Sox in a 2-0 victory.

Before the series, the Yankees were only one of the three MLB teams which had not been swept this year. Their city counterpart, the New York Mets, and the Cincinnati Reds are now the only two teams to have managed to save at least one match in a series.
It was not necessarily the pitching of the Yankees that placed them in this hole during the weekend, but rather the bats have become almost completely silent, including the frontrunner of Al MVP, Aaron Judge.

In addition to his Home Run solo tied in the first match of this series to force the additional Garrett Crochet sleeves at the top of the ninth round Friday evening, the judge was 0 for nine with nine sticks to the stick.
But it was not only the captain of the Yankees who could not advance the bat. As a team, the Yankees went 15 for 94 (0.160) with 10 ball goals, three additional strokes and 27 stick withdrawals, including 11 in the final of the series on Sunday.

As team 42-28 knows, this is not the way of success.
But note the season’s record – the Yankees can certainly afford a collapse given their advance on the Al East despite the losses. However, these losses, combined with the Rays of Tampa Bay winning seven of their last 10 games, means that New York is only a lead of 3.5 games at the top of the division.
Meanwhile, the Red Soxs are starting to become hot at the right time. They struck two of the best launchers in the match this season, Carlos Rodon and Max Fried, and the three victories brought them over 0.500 (37-36). They are only half a game at the back of the third and last point of Joker Al.

Of course, there is still a second half of the season to play in this 162 game marathon. But while the Red Sox becomes hot, the Yankees bats hope to stabilize the ship in the Bronx this week against the Los Angeles Angeles visiting and the Orioles of Baltimore.
