Al Jazeera English’s live broadcast was interrupted by an emergency missile alert following Iran’s retaliatory strikes on US bases in the Middle East.
The outlet shared video of the incident on TikTok, which quickly went viral, garnering more than 12 million views in just a few hours.
The 42-second video clip shows a guest speaking with presenter Folly Bah Thibault when their conversation is suddenly interrupted by loud alarm sounds.
Folly explained that these were the emergency alerts that Doha residents received on their phones in case of an emergency.
She added: “The national emergency alert system was triggered here in Qatar,” and cited Qatar’s defense ministry as saying an Iranian missile had been intercepted.
This comes after Iran retaliated against US-Israeli strikes dubbed Operation Epic Fury by the US and Operation Roaring Lion by Israel.
Iran has launched missile barrages at US bases in the Middle East, including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Kuwait and Jordan.
Netizens praised the presenter for keeping her cool in an emergency situation. One user commented: “The interviewer is so professional she is the best. Another asked: “How is she so calm?” »
A third user expressed disbelief, writing: “I can’t believe this is happening. It’s terrifying.”
