Aleema Khan condemns violence against journalists by PTI workers

Rawalpindi / Islamabad / Pakistan:

Aleema Khan firmly condemned violence against journalists, addressing the media near Adiala Road, Dahgal Naka, Rawalpindi.

She accused certain elements of having intentionally provoked and degenerated the situation. “When someone is intentionally sent, it is not journalism,” she added, “it was done on purpose to encourage people.”

Aleema Khan defended her commercial interests against allegations, challenging criticism to provide evidence. “It is a work as a journalist; if they have evidence, they should make him move forward,” she said, “I say that my property comes from my legitimate and legally earned money.”

She rejected the allegations that the egg launch incident was staged. “If I had an egg thrown on my own orders, then why did the police take these two women to protect them?”

“If my sons had come,” she said, “they would also have been accused of terrorism. This is exactly why we came here alone.”

“Everything Naeem Panjutha has done,” she added, “asks Naeem Panjutha”.

Earlier on Monday, a journalist was assaulted outside of Adiala prison after asking Aleema Khan, a sister of the founder of the PTI, Imran Khan, about his alleged properties in the United States.

Police recorded a case against Khan, the legislator of the PTI Tanveer Aslam, the focal point of Bushra Bibi, Naeem Panjutha and 40 unidentified workers for their alleged involvement.

According to the FIR filed on the complaint of journalist Tayyab Baloch, the incident occurred following the hearing of the Toshakhana-II affair.

Baloch said he was present outside the adiala prison door with other media representatives when Aleema Khan began a media discourse.

During the interaction, Panjutha would have shouted: “Teaching him a lesson to question Aleema Khan”.

The complaint said that the PTI MPA Tanveer Aslam, as well as the party workers identified as Azfar and Tuma, caught Baloch, threw it to the ground and subjected it to serious violence.

About 40 other workers, including InteSar Satti, have also joined the FIR.
