- Amazon moved the deadline for launching the web version of Alexa +
- A company spokesperson told Washington Post that he still had Alexa + adjustment for the web before deploying it to test users
- Despite the delay in his release, the reasons for this decision remain a mystery and an exact launch date has not yet been revealed
When Amazon announced the Alexa + voice improved in AI in February, the company has promised many new improvements, including new listening powers and wider compatibility with intelligent home devices – but again, Amazon has rejected one of its largest features.
Amazon had previously revealed that a web version of Alexa + would be among the series of new upgrades for the voice assistant. However, due to a last minute change from the company, the launch date for the deployment of Alexa.com has been extended, despite the version of the Alexa + application being already available for users at the start of access to the United States.
According to the Washington Post ($ / £), which had access to documents from the interior of Amazon, the company may have “underestimated the work necessary to launch Alexa.com”. Now, according to the company’s documents, Alexa +’s web version will arrive “barely on July 31”, which means that testing users will have to wait a little longer.
Despite this assertion, Amazon spokesperson Lauren Raemhild, told post that Alexa.com had not been delayed and “will be available with Alexa + Early Access this summer”, which suggests by the end of August. She added that Amazon “continues to refine the experience while (we) we extend to more customers”, but an official date has still not been announced.
The replaced remains a mystery
This last delay in the wider deployment of Alexa + means more frustration for Amazon customers who are waiting to try the new intelligent assistant. The company claims to have published “90% of the features announced in February”, and in June, Alexa + was deployed to more than a million testing users in the United States.
If the launch of Alexa.com has been delayed, and if the reason for the delay is indeed linked to the quantity of work and to the tests necessary to ensure that Alexa + will take off completely, that would not be a surprise, because we saw it occurring with Apple’s plans to launch its vocal assistant Siri Improved A-AIM.
As mentioned, an official launch date for Alexa.com has not yet been announced, but if we were to a delay, we would touch on what happens at the latest on August 31 – it is so Amazon keeps its promise that the rest of the Alexa + Early Access features will arrive before the end of the summer.
