- A new leak suggests that Alexa’s AI is too inactive to throw it again
- It will always be presented on February 26, but will not be released until later
- The leak follows the reports that Alexa was delayed from 2024 due to similar problems
It is almost guaranteed that Amazon is launching a new version of Alexa with a brain power inflated on February 26 – she literally stated it in an ad – but a disaster could have struck the last obstacle. Alexa Ai would still be delayed.
It is according to an anonymous source that spoke with the Washington Post (the report is at the origin of a payment wall) claiming that the new Alexa made too many errors when we asked test questions. Consequently, Alexa is delayed to improve its precision – the current launch date is now returned to March 31.
Amazon should always reveal the brand new Alexa to the New York event on February 26 as it could originally planned, however, we expect access to AI (and the questions to which he will answer in demos ) could be limited so as not to reveal its potentially less than perfect side.
As with all rumor information, we should always take all this with a pinch of salt, but if the Washington Post is correct, it would not be the first time that Alexa has been delayed. Several sources had teased a launch date in 2024, with precision problems cited once again as the reason why Alexa was retained.
Beyond the origin of a delay, these problems could also prove a blow to the plan of the rumor of Amazon to invoice the users the help of Alexa. It was said that the reworked Alexa could cost paid customers $ 5 to 10 per month to use (around £ 5 to £ 10 /8 $ 16). If Alexa is not reliable – or has the reputation of being unreliable beyond what is expected of an AI of current generation – we imagine that there will not be many users wishing to pay for service.
At least, Alexa’s current version would be held as a freely free and generally reliable option.
If Amazon can solve Alexa’s precision problems, the new AI is rather useful. Alexa Ai would be smarter so that she could manage several guests at the same time, rather than asking her user to give separate commands one after the other, and to work as an AIA – Read : Take actions without direct user requests.
Admittedly, this last point seems a little frightening, since Alexa Ai would have our information on the credit card and direct access to the largest online store in the world (Amazon), especially if Alexa is subject to errors ( I know I would be nervous at the idea of using it). But if Amazon can prove that his agent is really useful, Alexa could finally start to live up to the futuristic home assistant that many imagined that it would be when it was launched.
