AMAN-2025 exercise begins on February 7

ISLAMABAD:

The Pakistan Navy is set to host the ninth edition of the multinational exercise AMAN-25 from February 7 to 11, with the participation of ships, aircraft, special operations forces (SOF), explosive ordnance disposal teams and munitions (EOD), navies and observers from 60 countries. .

A key component of AMAN-25 will be the inaugural AMAN Dialogue, during which naval chiefs, coast guard chiefs and senior leaders from around the world will discuss regional maritime security and develop joint strategies to counter the evolution of maritime threats.

According to a press release issued by the Director General of Public Relations (Navy), delegations from around the world will also attend the first AMAN International Dialogue, which will take place alongside the exercise.

The AMAN series is a hallmark of the Pakistan Navy’s efforts to promote regional peace and cooperation. Launched in 2007, the inaugural exercise saw the participation of 28 countries. By 2023, the number of participating nations had increased to 50.

The AMAN series’ motto, “Together for Peace,” reflects its core mission, while this year’s theme, “Safe Seas; a prosperous future”, highlights the importance of maritime security for global prosperity.

The AMAN exercise includes port and maritime phases. During the port phase, activities such as seminars, operational discussions, counter-terrorism demonstrations and pre-departure planning for at-sea developments will take place. The maritime phase would include tactical maneuvers, exercises related to maritime security such as counter-piracy and counter-terrorism, search and rescue, artillery firing and air defense exercises. The culmination of the maritime phase will be the International Fleet Review, which will be attended by national and foreign dignitaries. Pak Marines and Special Service Group (Navy) would demonstrate their counter-terrorism skills during the peace exercise.
