- The Runna app is integrated into Amazfit watches
- Amazfit’s Zepp app also has a new design and badge system
- The changes are currently coming to the Amazfit Balance 2 and T-Rex 3 Pro
While it’s not the biggest name in the game, Amazfit makes some of the most budget-friendly running watches on the market – and if you’re thinking about buying one, now is a good time, because the brand just saw two updates that help make it an even better choice for budget-conscious fitness enthusiasts.
The first is that the popular Runna app just added support for Amazfit watches. Runna is one of the best fitness apps on the market, with awesome analytics tools and a great community to join, so having it on your Amazfit watch is a significant boost.
Specifically, the partnership between the two companies means that users will be able to sync workouts from Runna to the Zepp app on their Amazfit watch and then send completed activities back to Runna, meaning the link works both ways. The integration is rolling out with Amazfit Balance 2 and T-Rex 3 Pro devices, but other products are expected to be supported in the future.
Runna gave Amazfit users some tips on how to best use the new features. Additionally, be aware that you will only be able to sync running workouts at the moment, and we’ll have to see if support is added for other types of workouts in the future.
A new coat of paint
That’s not the only improvement coming to Amazfit watches, as the company also announced that its Zepp app is getting a major facelift with a refreshed interface and a new badge system designed to keep you on track with your health and fitness goals.
The changes occur in version 10 of the Zepp application, available on iOS. There, users noticed that a new interface has been implemented, with a reorganized home screen, as well as more distinct sections for your activities, metrics, training plans and more. The design refresh also allows for the use of a wider range of colors, as well as a more modern appearance for the app.
Besides the refreshed interface, the Zepp app has a new Badges tab that aims to introduce an element of gamification into your fitness. Badges are awarded for achieving personal bests, long-term goals, achievements and challenges, while you can also see badges you haven’t yet unlocked. The goal seems to be to reward you for staying active and encourage you to continue your fitness progress over time.
With these two big changes – the Runna integration and the new Zepp app design – Amazfit users have received some welcome features that should help improve their experience. And as Runna says it’s “actively working with Amazfit to expand workout syncing to other devices,” more changes could be on the way.
