- A Redditor has revealed what is perhaps the next Kindle Ereder of Amazon
- It is supposed to be a smaller – and potentially cheaper version – from the Kindle Color
- The prototype, called Kindle Petit Color, would have features never seen before on any straightener
A Brazilian Redditor according to the Successful Username_Bear4855 user names today has disclosed images and has offered personal information on a prototype of color license, saying that it is the next version of Amazon to announce in November. The photos show a reader with white glasses, something we have not seen on a Kindle for a while, and is apparently called the Kindle Petit color.
Although this name, according to the Redditor, is not set in stone, the new device seems to be roughly the same dimensions as the Amazon Kindle 2024 of current basic, but has a display of ink in color E alongside the features that I have seen in any ereder – and I tested dozens in the past eight years.
According to the leak, which apparently tests the device, the saturation of colors on the small is greater than the Kindle Colorsoft and has a parameter which will allow users to adjust saturation for individual colors. We do not know exactly how it will work, but I tested devices like the Onyx Boox Go Color 7 which offer various screen modes, such as “VIVID”, which increase colored shades, although the adjustment is done as a whole and not “by color”.
The little one also apparently has a functionality entitled “Progressive colors” which, according to the author of the publication, will allow users to “configure your text to change the color according to the reading of progress”. There are apparently four colors to choose and these can change as you cross each quarter of the book. The same color will also appear on the status bar, depending on the post, and individual icons through the user interface could also be displayed in colors selected by the user.
Personally, I do not see the attraction of this functionality of “progressive color”, but the reditor says that Amazon just wants to “maximize the use of color, because of the way it was poorly used in the colorsoft [sic]”. Although this is not what I would call a useful addition, I am at least slightly curious to see how executed it is … if this Kindle is even released.
Color me skeptical
You can color me if there is really a new Kindle in preparation – especially if we will see it from November this year – but there are details in this Reddit thread which make me question the veracity of the leak.
From what I can say by mentioning the leak of a color resolution of 150ppi in the wire, this new Kindle will probably use the display E Ink Kaleido 3, which limits the amount of saturation it can maintain. According to my experience, better colors on this screen technology invariably have to the detriment of the sharpness of the text. The size of the smaller screen on this disclosed lisger should inadvertently help the text to appear less vague compared to larger devices, but it is something that I should see for myself before recommending it as one of the best Kindles.
Then there are the removable glasses that the author of the post mentions. When asked if he will be available in other colors, the Redder said that he will come in usual black and white, but “for the first time, the telescope will be detachable”. The replacements will also be available for purchase from November apparently, in “Green Leaf, Deep Purple, Chromatic Gray and a special edition called Siren, which goes from soft pink to the sweet Sarcelle depending on the angle you look at”.
Again, I’m not sure of the detachable glasses – no Ereder brand has tried to do something like that before … Unless it is just skins, you can stay on the chassis. I guess time will tell us.
Other reports suggest that this Kindle could be cheaper than Colorsoft, but if these leaks are true, I am not sure that Amazon would sell it at a lower price. Screen optimization and color features could justify an increase in prices in Amazon’s eyes. Then there will be the additional cost of the glasses (or skins) detachable, even if I may take advance here.
This leak is also very public and I wonder why a tester would risk Amazon’s anger by disclosing so many details. In this spirit, I take this news with more than a few grains of salt.
A potential strike against the precision of this leak is that Amazon is not known to have released new Kindles in rapid estate. It took the company three years to publish a new Kindle Paperwhite, while the Kindle scribe obtained an update after two years. The basic Kindle also had a two -year gap. In addition, Amazon has just expanded its Colorsoft range with new models, so I’m not sure that the technology giant will publish a brand new license in 2025. We can hope.
