The new Ryzen Threadripper 9000 series of AMD was finally put up for sale, with the Threadripper 9980x lighthouse available for purchase now from Tech-America for a bonus of $ 5198.
It is expensive for sure, but for professionals who need high -level multi -year performance, the first references show that the new chip offers value where it is important – the proverbial blow for your money, if you want.
Built on the Zen 5 architecture of AMD, the 9980X has 64 cores with 128 threads. It is not only the number of nucleus that distinguishes the new chip from the competition, but also how it works under a heavy load.
At the top of the graphics
The new chip is able to manage demanding tasks such as 3D rendering, simulation and video production with an impressive ease thanks to a basic clock of 3.2 GHz and a boost speed of up to 5.4 GHz.
In fact, Passmark’s benchmarks (see below) suggest that it offers a level of performance that even exceeds quality of work flea with more hearts.
In the Passmark Multi-Thread CPU test, the 9980X scored 147,481, placing it at the top of the office performance table.
It is higher than the 96 hearts Threadripper Pro 7995WX, which displayed 145,572 points.
Despite less hearts, the 9980X comes out of the front, probably because of its higher basic clock and its higher efficiency through workloads that evolve with a clock speed.
Single wire results
In unique thread tests, the image is a little different. The 9980X marks 4,594, which places it behind chips more focused on the consumer like the M3 Ultra de Apple and the main Ultra 9 285K of Intel. It is not unexpected, of course, because the 9980X threadripper is designed for multi-thread applications rather than for daily use of office.
Compared to the previous 7980x threadripper, the 9980X shows approximately a performance gain of 8%. Although it may not seem huge, just direct the current graphics comfortably.
The chip also includes 64 MB of L2 and 256 MB of Cache L3, which gives it a lot of memory in Die so that things work quickly.
Complete examinations are expected soon, but the first results suggest that the AMD’s Threadripper 9980X is a serious upgrade for high -end users with deep pockets.
