- The rumor says that the AMD RX 9070 GPUs would have struck the shelves on March 6
- Another rumor suggests that 9070 XT may require 900W diet
- It is for a high -end overclocked overclock version of the 9070 XT, however, and there are many warnings to consider here
AMD Radeon RX 9070 graphics cards will benefit from a full launch event on February 28, which was confirmed by Team Red, and now the chatter on the rumor mill indicate that these GPUs will be available for purchase on 6 March.
This alleged date of sale is gracked Sources de Videocardz, an assertion also supported by the Benchlife Chinese technology site. Even if these two rumors align, we must always take this with great caution.
That said, AMD told us that its RX 9070 models will be sold in early March, which I consider the first week, and March 6 corresponds to this photo. However, we will need confirmation officially, and this will probably come to the press event mentioned for the GPUs of DNA 4 at the end of February.
At the same time, more speculation floats with regard to the energy consumption of the RX 9070 XT, suggesting that a third -party variant has a large demand in terms of electrical supply of your PC.
Tom’s material noticed a post on X of Tomasz Gawroński showing an allegedly disclosed image of the Red Devil PowerColor RX 9070 XT, with the packaging apparently indicating that you will need a PSU 900W to have this graphics card in your PC of game.
There will be 9070 XT cards available at launch that will require lower minimum power supply, because there will be a lot with 8 -pin power connectors for an upgrade without worry.February 14, 2025
This has raised many eyebrows because it is 100W more than the current recommendation for the RX 7900 XTX lighthouse, even if the poster admitted that they did not know if the image is rigged.
Interestingly, Frank Azor, chief of consumption and play marketing at AMD, really answered Gawroński, observing that there will be other RX 9070 XT models which “will require lower minimum feeding, just like There will be a lot with an 8 -pin connectors power for the grip -free upgrade. »»
Note thatzor did not confirm that the image was real, although the executive AMD does not call it a false either (but of course, it does not work for PowerColor).
Analysis: Ready for the mid -range GPU shooting AMD vs nvidia?
The launch date of March 6 for RX 9070 models, if it is correct, is certainly an interesting choice – mainly because Nvidia has just been announced on March 5, it is when RTX 5070 arrives on the shelves . Thus, as we theorized earlier this week, it looks very much like a mid -range head between the RX 9070 and RTX 5070 in the first week of March.
As for PSU needs, I would not panic about the potential scenario of RX 9070 models requiring in a way of large power tanks. Some of the most beautiful models can, but we must remember that the Red Devil Board mentioned in the leak is a high -end graphics card, and as Azor has observed, other models will require less power. Indeed, the rumor is that the 9070 XT reference of AMD will require a PSU of 750W, the RX 9070 vanilla needing 650W, much more modest (add the seasoning with this again).
It should also be noted that 900W is a strange specification here, since there is no PSU delivering this exact figure, provided that I know. There are 850W models and then we go to 1000W, so why PowerColor is (theoretically) by placing the requirement just above 850W, in a non-existent PSU medium (so to speak), I am not sure. It might be another suggestion that the image is rigged.
That said, I have no doubt that a RX 9070 XT model strongly overclocké will drink much more juice than a standard board. He will clearly do it, and it would therefore not be surprising that the best dogs in the world of the RNA 4 graphics card are considerably more demanding for power supply to the PC. These GPUs will also cost much more than entry -level products 9070 XT, and the way in which competitive AMD graphics cards will be in terms of pricing is the other key question that we want to answer.
Fortunately, we will have these answers. Roll at the end of February.
