American skier Alex Hall added to Team USA’s medal tally Tuesday at the Winter Olympics by capturing a silver medal in the men’s freeski slopestyle event.

The competition was tough as Hall looked to defend the gold medal he won at the Beijing Games in 2022. Men’s Slopestyle had been an event dominated by the United States since its introduction to the Olympics in 2014 and anything less than a bronze could have been considered a failure.

Hall didn’t let things get to this point. He had a tough first run, only scoring 52.65. In the second round, he delivered an epic performance and scored 85.75. He was expected to excel in the third round, but he slipped and was unable to beat his score from the second round.

However, the 85.75 was her best and enough to win the silver medal.

Norwegian Birk Ruud won the gold medal in this event. He earned a score of 86.28, which he recorded in his first run. New Zealander Luca Harrington was almost perfect on his third run and managed to beat Switzerland’s Andri Ragettli for the bronze medal.

Hall’s silver medal was the second of the day for the American team, following Ben Ogden in cross-country skiing.

It was Hall’s second career Olympic medal. He finished better than at the 2025 World Championships, where he won bronze in this event.
