Exemption from the Trump administration on electronics prices can be short -lived.
Commerce secretary Howard Lunick said on Sunday that the White House’s decision to exempt articles such as smartphones, computers and other consumer electronics from steep rates earlier this month was only temporary.
A new set of tasks focused on semiconductors is expected in “a month or two,” he said.
“All of these products will go under semiconductors, and they will have a special type of price to ensure that these products are relocated,” said Lunick during an ABC interview this week.
The objective, he added, is to encourage the production of fleas and flat panels in the United States and reduce dependence on Asian manufacturing. Clarification follows a bulletin of customs and the protection of American border published Friday evening, by providing a temporary exemption for a range of key electronics of the reciprocal prices that President of President Donald Trump announced earlier this month.
However, Lutnick stressed that these same articles would soon be swept away in a more targeted policy intended for “national security” industries such as semiconductors and pharmaceuticals.
“We must have tokens and we must have flat panels – we have to have these things in America manufactured,” said Libnick.
The price of Bitcoin has dropped by around 1% on the titles reporting the words of Lunick, before awarding $ 84,000. The wider cryptography market, measured by the Coindesk 20 index (CD20), is down approximately 1.6% during the last 24 -hour period.
