Amy Schumer responds to criticism after deleting her social media posts

Amy Schumer has set the record straight after receiving harsh criticism for deleting all of her pre-weight loss photos from social media.

On Wednesday, on her Instagram account, the 44-year-old actress clarified that she had not deleted her publications on social networks before losing weight because she did not like her appearance.

“I’ve always been proud of my appearance,” Amy wrote. “I worked to be pain free and I finally am. My endometriosis is better. My back is healing. I no longer have Cushing’s syndrome so my face is back to normal.”

She added: “I’m grateful to be strong and healthy, especially for my son. “But your Instagram is not your identity, it’s a selection of what you want the world to see and I feel very strong and beautiful and it’s been fun sharing that.”

Amy, who shares 6-year-old son Gene Fischer with husband Chris Fischer, revealed she didn’t intentionally “go on a weight loss journey.”

“I’m sure my weight always fluctuates,” she explained. “I am a perimenopausal woman on medication. I wish you strength and self-love in whatever path you take, as long as it is kind and respectful to everyone.”

“No matter their weight race or religion, peace!” she added.

The comments came after fans noticed that the comedian had deleted all of her photos from Instagram, except for a carousel of herself in a red mini dress.
