- Compact and powerful, Planck SSD offers transfer speeds of 1050 MB / s
- USB-C HUB allows dual-ssd use and an external monitor support
- Direct SSD recording eliminates abandoned executives in 4K Pros images
Shiftcam has announced the Planck SSD, an external mini storage solution for commercial smartphones and commercial laptops, connecting via USB-C and offering up to 2 TB of storage.
The SSD Planck is powered by NVME technology, allowing reading and writing speeds up to 1,050 MB / s and a transfer speed up to 10 Gbit / s. This level of performance supports, for example, direct recording to SSD for Apple 4K Prores video at 60 or 120 images per second without abandoned frames.
Given that these videos at 120 images per second consume around 264 GB for only ten minutes of sequences, this external storage solution is essential for those working with high resolution content in the video publishing software.
Durable and reliable for any environment
The name “Planck” is inspired by the scientific term associated with incredibly small quantities in physics; The minimum SSD form factor should mean that it can also accommodate a gimbal used for stabilized video recordings.
Despite its compact size, the company claims that the SSD Planck will have resistance to dust / water IP65 and will test the fall up to three meters, which makes it ideal for external shoots.
It also supports a USB-C hub which allows two SSD Plancks to be used simultaneously. This hub also includes an HDMI port, allowing users to connect an external monitor for direct media reading.
According to Shiftcam, the retail prices suggested for the Planck should be $ 129 for 1 TB and $ 199 for 2 TB, with the planned launch in the spring of 2025.
Shiftcam CEO Benson Chiu said in a press release: “[its] The mission with Planck is to eliminate the barriers from traditional storage and to allow creators to focus on their profession. We have designed such a portable and powerful tool, it becomes an invisible but essential part of any workflow of creators. »»
