King Charles has been urged to stand with Jeffrey Epstein’s victims by helping British police with a ‘trump card’.
Discussions are ongoing around the monarch’s visit to the United States, especially after Donald Trump earlier told reporters that the king would arrive soon, despite political unrest.
Charles, whose diplomatic skills are no secret, could play a crucial role in strengthening ties between the UK and US after Trump’s remarks about Keith Starmer.
But the monarch’s visit is not only important for the political alliance, it could also play a key role in persuading Trump to release the full, unredacted Jeffrey Epstein files, useful in the Andrew investigation.
Royal expert Andrew Lownie said: “He (Mr Trump) may be rude to Keir Starmer, but I don’t think he will be to the king.”
According to the Mirrorhe added: “I think Trump is a bully, and I think you stand up to him. I think the king might well be able to persuade him to do things that might not otherwise be possible.”
Despite strong calls from British politicians and the public to postpone the trip to the United States, Mr Lownie believes King Charles should go ahead with his plans for the sake of Epstein’s victims.
“It’s the kind of soft power that the monarchy can be very effective at. It can shame Trump. It’s the old phrase: ‘When they go low, you go high,’ and I think he should go there,” the royal commentator said.
