Andrew has settled into a familiar royal retreat called Wood Farm which already contains a well-known chapter of family history.
Long before becoming Andrew’s current base, the modest farmhouse was his father Prince Philip’s favorite retreat during his final years.
In 2017, after stepping away from public duties, Philip chose Wood Farm over larger royal residences.
For him, it was about peace. The house offered stunning sea views and a break from the formality that defined much of royal life.
Wood Farm had long been a favorite getaway spot for Queen Elizabeth II, who occasionally opted for its understated charm rather than the more imposing Sandringham House.
The staff shed their formal uniforms and the atmosphere relaxed considerably.
The queen herself would have gone to the kitchen and also taken care of the dishes.
