- The pricing of the iPhone 17 has been planned again
- Most models are likely to see a price increase
- The iPhone 17 can cost the same thing as the iPhone 16
With the launch of the iPhone 17 to a few days, leaks and rumors continue around Apple flagship phones in 2025 – and a new analyst report focuses on the very debated subject of the quantity of these handsets that will really cost.
According to TrendForce (via macrumors), several price increases are on the way to the models last year – although the iPhone 17 will apparently start at the same price as the iPhone 16, $ 799 for the model with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage.
TrendForce only refers to the American market, but the price of the United Kingdom and Australia began at £ 799 and $ 1,399 respectively. If the American prices are maintained the same, then it is plausible (but in no way certain) that they will also be set internationally.
The same report indicates that the new air of the iPhone 17, starting with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, will cost $ 1,099 and more. It is much more than the iPhone 16 Plus that it replaces, which had a starting price of $ 899 / £ 899 / $ 1,599 at – although it is for 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage.
More for your money
On the most expensive models: the iPhone 17 Pro should start at $ 1,199, against $ 999 / £ 999 / $ 1,849 last year with the iPhone 16 Pro. However, the 2025 model should offer 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage for beginners, rather than 8 GB / 128 GB.
It is a similar story with the iPhone 17 Pro Max. The iPhone 16 Pro Max started at $ 1,199 / £ 1 199 £ / 2,149 $ at 256 GB of storage, but the 2025 model should increase this to $ 1299 – although with 12 GB of RAM inside rather than 8 GB (and the same storage of 256 GB).
Even taking into account the RAM and storage considerations, the main thing is that the entry price for most models of the iPhone 17 is higher than for their predecessors – perhaps a consequence of American rates.
The previous rumors had indicated that prices increased or stable, so there is still a lot of uncertainty here. We know the safe figures when Apple unveils these phones on Tuesday September 9, from 10 a.m. PT / 1 p.m. He / 6 p.m. BST (3 a.m. on September 10 for Aest).
