Ant Anstead is recovering after suffering multiple injuries in a “freak” football accident, including a detached pectoral muscle, torn rotator cuff and torn labrum.
The Born Mechanic host, 46, shared the update on Instagram on Saturday, alongside a photo of himself in a sling. “The operation is now over and I have to rest (which I don’t do well)…! So I take that as a sign!” he wrote.
Anstead explained that the accident happened while he was already focused on his health after close friends received serious medical diagnoses. “It made me take a closer look at my health… my diet, my peptides, my body scans, my vitamins, etc.,” he said.
“And I’m going back down the health rabbit hole, because I’m in the age range where I need to take these things more seriously! And be healthier and kinder to my body.”
Amid his recovery, Anstead has been working on co-parenting his 6-year-old son, Hudson, with ex-wife Christina Haack following their reunion in 2024.
A few weeks before the accident, he praised Haack for his parenting at a school conference, writing: “Hudzo is thriving! I will congratulate us! We are doing a great job with this little guy! Great job mom x.” Haack replied: “The nicest boy!!”
