Anthony Richardson is heading for his third season with a real quarter battle, but his pursuit to win the starting station for the 2025 season will be more difficult after suffering an injury.
Richardson faces a shoulder injury in his launch arm, and he will not participate in the Mini-Camp of the Colts next week, according to head coach Shane Steichen.
Steichen added that Richardson had suffered the injury last week during the activities of the organized team.

“Doctors, the trainers checked it,” said Steichen, by NFL.com. “He has a certain worsening in his AC joint. So we will sit this week. Obviously, he will sit for Minicamp. We will see when he returns. Do not put a calendar for the training camp on it, but when he returns, we will relieve it now.”
While Steichen noted that the injury was not serious enough for surgery, a procedure was not excluded.

Richardson treated numerous injuries during his first two NFL seasons, which included a shoulder injury at the end of the season after four games during his recruit year. An oblique injury in 2024 prevented it two games.
Richardson, the fourth overall choice of the team in 2023 in Florida, experienced his return to the colts last year, launching only 1,814 yards in 11 games with a completion rate of 47.7%.

Steichen moved to Bench Richardson last season as he struggled, the backup Joe Flacco replacing him under the center.
This year, the colts brought Daniel Jones, that the New York giants broke the links with Midway throughout the 2024 campaign because of his own difficulties, to compete with Richardson in the training camp.
Although Jones did not take place under his four -year extension in New York, he has years to start in the NFL to his credit. His addition to the quarter room led a lot to believe that Richardson’s work was not sure.
Richardson must now fight another injury before fighting Jones.

“It’s frustrating, but he’s in a good mood,” said Steichen about Richardson. “So we are working at the moment.”
With Richardson away, Jones will obtain the lion’s part of the Mini-Camp representatives.
