Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif warned India that any attempt to block Pakistan water in violation of the Industry Water Treaty would be greeted by a decisive response.
“You are threatening to stop our water. If you are trying such a decision, Pakistan will teach you a lesson you will never forget,” he told an event of International Youth Day in Islamabad on Tuesday.
He stressed that water was crucial for Pakistan’s survival and that the country would not compromise its rights under international agreements.
Sharif also thought about the recent military achievement against India, recalling the victory of May 10 when the Pakistan armed forces managed to reduce six Indian fighter planes. “A new Pakistan emerged after the armed forces of Pakistan defeated India,” he said, calling for a historic moment for the nation.
He added that India’s pride was “sunk” on May 10, a day that we would remember in the military history of Pakistan.

In addition, the PM launched two key initiatives during the ceremony of International Youth Day: the uninteresting loans for future workers abroad and the “Laptop for all” program.
The PM has announced the distribution of 100,000 free laptops to talented students through Pakistan only on merit, as part of the wider commitment of the government towards the empowerment of young people thanks to digital access and education.
He stressed that the distribution would cover the four provinces, the federal capital, the Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Cashmire. He assured that the process would be conducted transparently, without favoritism or nepotism.
“These laptops will be entirely distributed on merit. No one will be favored for political or personal reasons,” said the Prime Minister, adding that the initiative would be parallel to a loan program based on existing interests for access to technology.
The Prime Minister used the opportunity to underline the importance of young people in the construction of the nation and urged them to exploit the spirit of national resilience and hard work. “The future of Pakistan lies in the hands of his youth,” he said.
Prime Minister Shehbaz also congratulated the nation before independence, while recognizing the vital contributions of minorities and all segments of society in the creation and development of Pakistan.
He took the opportunity to honor the individuals of the minority communities, recognizing their contributions in various sectors with special prices during the ceremony.
