- AOOSTAR teasing EG01 EGPU DOCK with Thunderbolt 5 and Oculink Connectivity
- Mini PC The support allows an office style configuration stacked for users with a limited space
- Global version expected, although the pricing details have not yet been revealed
The start of Chinese equipment Aoostar has teased a new external GPU reception station with a rather unusual design and certain advanced connectivity options.
The AOOSTAR EG01 follows other EGPU open-frame platforms, such as the Peladn Link S-3, which uses Thunderbolt 5, and Ministerum deg1, which uses Oculink.
The EG01, listed on the global website of the company, is however better, by offering both Thunderbolt 5 and Oculink, which makes it one of the first quays in a ready -made design to do so, while including a mount for a mini PC.
Global availability
It is this framework above the feed slit that makes the EG01 so unusual.
The arrangement allows the mini PC to be stacked vertically above the GPU, creating a compact desktop style configuration rather than separate devices, as you can see in the promotional image above.
For anyone short of office space, construction instead of Out could be welcome.
AOOSTAR published its EGPU AG01 platform with an Oculink port and an 800W diet integrated last year. The EG01 takes a different route and does not come with an integrated PSU.
Instead, the dock is based on an ATX or SFX unit provided by the user, which allows both the GPU and the electronics of the quay.
The Single Thunderbolt 5 port of the EG01 supports the delivery of USB power of 150W, allowing the quay to load connected systems with more power than many competing models.
The EG01 is not the only product to offer both Thunderbolt 5 and Oculink Connectivity.
We wrote on the FNGT5 PRO of the Chinese manufacturer FEVM earlier in the year.
This product offers Dual Thunderbolt 5 Ports and Oculink, but is based on an integrated laptop quality GPU (RTX 4060, 4080 and 4090) and does not allow upgrades.
It was only available in China, while – given its presence on the international site of the company – a world version of the EG01 seems almost assured.
Aoostar has not yet announced the price of the EG01, but now that it is on the website, other details should arrive soon.
