Apex Group, a financial service provider with more than 3 billions of dollars of assets under administration, said on Tuesday that it had acquired majority participation in Tokeny, a company based in Luxembourg which helps the institutions in Tokensize real assets (RWA) on public blocks.
According to the agreement, Apex plans to fully appropriate tokeny over the next three years, after having invested for the first time in the company at the end of 2023, Apex said in a press release. The companies have not disclosed the terms of the acquisition in the press release, and a spokesperson did not immediately return a comment request.
The acquisition comes while the more traditional financial companies envisage tokenization as the next border on the capital markets, using blockchain technology for the movement of assets such as obligations, funds and other titles.
For institutional investors, the process promises simpler cross -border transactions, faster regulations and new liquidity channels. Tokenized assets could be a market of 18 dollars by 2033, a report by BCG and Ripple last month.
“Tokenization is a fundamental change in the way the assets will be managed, distributed and accessible,” said Apex founder and CEO, Peter Hughes, in a press release. “Our strengthened partnership with Tokeny is essential to deliver our vision as the infrastructure provider to the digital finance era.”
Tokeny’s infrastructure has already been used for Tokensize more than $ 32 billion in assets, supporting the full life cycle of tokenized titles – from issue to compliance transfer – and is better known to establish the ERC -3643, a standard widely used for complex digital asset transfers, the press release said.
Apex said that the team and Tokeny tools will be provided internally, and that it aims to offer customers a turnkey infrastructure for blockchain finances, the superposition of intelligent contracts and decentralized protocols in addition to its traditional services.
