- A new Bloomberg report says that Apple will change the way it has its operating systems
- The change will be to correspond to the year, so not iOS 19 but iOS 26
- It is said that the change will also be for iPados, MacOS, Watchos, Tvos and Visionos
With only 12 days before the kick -off of Apple WWDC 2025 on June 9, 2025, with an opening speech, rumors and reports are hot on what the technology giant could announce. Given that it is the global conference of developers, we expect the CEO Tim Cook and a multitude of leaders to guide us through the next generation of platforms.
Until a new report, we were fully expecting os 19 and iPados 19, the next generation of macOS with a unique place in California, giving it a name and new versions of Watchos, Tvos and Visionos, all amount of a single number.
According to Mark Gurman from BloombergHowever, Apple could launch a curve ball and abandon the concept of appointing the software by the next generation issue. The report indicates that instead of revealing iOS 19, the successor of iOS 18, Apple will present iOS 26.
“The next Apple operating systems will be identified per year, rather than a version number,” said the report. In addition to iOS, jumping to 26, it seems that Apple could deploy the iPados 26, MacOS 26, Watchos 26, Tvos 26, and perhaps the most shocking, Visionos 26. The latter would be the most important jump, because we are currently only visionos 2, and the pro vision as a whole is not an aging device.
It seems that the change of Apple, at least as described in this report, aims to eliminate a certain confusion and to establish uniformity in its brand image. The new denomination agreement would have arrived with a large -scale design refreshment nicknamed “Solarium” which should affect each of the Apple platforms – iOS, iPados, MacOS, Watchos, Visionos and Tvos included.
I am personally enthusiastic about the more transparent design refreshment for iPhone software and the rest of the platforms; It will invigorate and make all the experience a little cleaner, at least I think yes. However, this new denomination agreement is a little more confusing for me – Apple seems to adopt a similar approach to car manufacturers, appointing its software for the coming year.
It seems a little confusing on paper, but I’m curious to see how Apple explains that on stage. This could also point out that Siri has now delayed – the historical characteristic of Apple Intelligence – may not land before 2026 – although it is really the assumption of someone for an arrival.
Apple would not be the first company to do an act of faith with its names of name. Samsung jumped from the Galaxy S10 family to the Galaxy S20And Microsoft tried this for a few years, then returned to generational numbers.
The new denomination strategy for iOS, iPados, MacOS, TVOS, Watchos and Visionos, will not be the only news or changes. We expect the overhaul on all platforms, as well as the potential of a dedicated game application for the iPhone, iPad and Mac, a redesigned translation application and some improvements in Apple Intelligence’s features.
Of course, all of this should be taken with a grain of salt for the moment, but we will bring in Cupertino live on June 9, 2025 to decompose everything that Apple Announcement at WWDC 2025 – So stay with Techradar.
