Apple’s iPad Pro could be defined for an even smoother design. A new rumor suggests that the new generation iPad Pro Oled will have the thinnest glasses of any Apple tablet to date – bring it closer to a real on -board display experience.
According to an article on the Chinese social media platform Weibo, the upcoming models of the iPad Pro will have similar glasses in width at the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra. The information was shared at instant digital, a leak established with more than 1.4 million followers.
The post also suggests that Apple understood how to reduce the width of the borders around the iPad screen without introducing a notch, like the one found on the Galaxy S10 Ultra tab. This tablet already has a screen / body ratio of more than 90%. Without notch, the Ipad pro line redesigned would be firmly in territory any screen.
Exciting that this last rumor is on the iPad display, it also raises many questions – and leaves many of them unanswered.
A borderless future?
We have already heard rumors on the bizels of the ultra-millée Ipad Pro, some of which came from the same source. While as Insisting Digital has accurately disclosed certain Apple specifications in advance, the account also had its share of failures. This gives the suggestions with a pinch of skepticism.
However, the development of a tablet with ultra-SIM glasses certainly seems to be something in the Apple wheelhouse. And if there is a device that Apple likes to show its design chops, it’s the iPad Pro. From mini-LED panels to Apple Pirafoux support, the PRO line has long been a playground for premium features.
This decision would require a reconfiguration of the internal equipment, in particular compared to the screen. Recent reports suggest that part of the response could come from Chip-on-Film technology, which LG would have used to make integrated OLED panels for future iPad Pro models.
With thin and notchy glasses, Apple will always need a place to hide the front camera and the TrueDepth sensor system required for the identification of the face. When it deleted the notch of the iPhone 14 Pro, Apple introduced the dynamic island. An option could be to bring this functionality to the iPad Pro range.
An alternative solution would be under-afficuous sensors. We saw them on other devices. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold range, including the latest Z Fold 6, has long been equipped with cameras under the internship. We have also written on a recent Apple patent for an under-afficuous face identification system. This suggests that Apple works on a way to eradicate the notches of its iPhone range – and technology could certainly be extended to its tablets.
The most urgent question may be when it all really happens. Weibo’s position clearly indicates that the overhaul of the overhaul is “not necessarily the next generation”.
The current iPad Pro (2024) was launched in May 2024. The new generation iPad Pro should land at the end of 2025 with an M5 processor. As much as we would like to see an iPad all screen this year, it seems more realistic to cover our bets and to wait for thinner glasses on the next generation – probably due to the first half of 2027.
