- Apple works to make other voice assistants available in iOS according to a new report
- This decision should be required to comply with European Union regulations
- You can make sure that the action button on your iPhone Load is the chatppt or gemini now
According to a new report by Mark Gurman at Bloomberg, Apple works to add the possibility of using alternative voice assistants, including chatbots like Chatgpt and Gemini, instead of Siri on iPhone for the first time.
This decision comes because Apple will have to comply with the expected regulations of the European Union.
Gurman quotes “a person with knowledge of the question” as a source of his history, but he has a history of precision when it comes to predicting what Apple will do next.
According to the same report, Apple is still working hard to make Siri, via Apple Intelligence, more credible in a conversational way and has even set up offices in Zurich to create an “LLM Siri” in the future, it will be smarter.
So, this is certainly not a case of Apple abandoning Siri for other vocal assistants, but it seems that this will allow third -party voice assistants to replace Siri on the iPhone if he wants to continue selling iphones in the EU in the future.
Use of AI on your iPhone
Of course, this could mean that the possibility of using another voice assistant could be limited to only iPhones sold in the EU, but in any case, this opens the possibility of using Google Assistant, or even Chatgpt or Gemini with your iPhone if you prefer it to Siri.
Siri can already transfer requests for chatgpt complexes, but the implementation is awkward, and certainly not as fluid as if Chatgpt managed all the tasks of the default voice assistant.
Of course, you can really use Chatgpt and Gemini with your iPhone at the moment via their applications, but some time ago, I discovered a nice hack to call the vocal mode of each AI from a simple press the action button.
Although Chatbots AI cannot interact with your phone’s settings as Siri, it can at least give you an idea of what it would be if Chatgpt or Gemini was your voice assistant, and it’s a great way to open the AI apps quickly if you want to ask a question and need a answer quickly.
Call Chatgpt and Gemini
If you want to try this now, just follow these steps:
In the settings, choose the action button, then shortened. Scroll the list of applications you see here and choose Chatgpt or Gemini, then choose “Start the voice conversation” or “Talk Live With Gemini”, from the options that appear.
(It is important to do it in the manner described above and not to access Chatgpt or Gemini via the “Open App …” button, because this will not give you the voice fashion options.)
Now when you give the action button a press and maintain, you jump directly in a voice conversation with your favorite chatbot.
In fact, I configured this some time ago on my iPhone and I always use it all the time. I find it really the hand when I have a question that needs an answer and I prefer to ask Chatgpt using my voice rather than starting to type with the keyboard.
Remember that if you want to completely deactivate Siri, or reduce the accidental activations Siri, then in Settings> Apple Intelligence & Siri> Talk & Type To Siri, you can deactivate “Hey Siri” and modify the settings to activate it.
