- Apple could soon launch a new iCloud functionality called confetti
- This will apparently help you send and manage invitations more easily
- Unfortunately, the free iCloud storage option is still limited to 5 GB
Appleās iCloud system is used to manage all kinds of cloud -based activities, file management in the iCloud reader to check your mail from any device. Now, it is on the verge of obtaining a new feature called Confetti which could change the way you meet friends and loved ones.
The rumor comes from Bloomberg journalist, Mark Gurman, who overturned the beans in his power on the ballot on the weekend. There, Gurman describes the confetti as “a new event based on iCloud and invites service”.
The idea is that it gives you “a new way of inviting people to parties, functions and meetings,” says Gurman. Currently, this is mainly done in a few disparate ways, either by creating an event in the application of Apple calendar and by sharing it with guests, or by simply sending SMS to people in your application of Chosen messaging.
Confetti could be launched this week, Gurman believes. It is not certain that the application will in fact be named confetti, however, because Gurman says that this is what Apple calls him internally – this means that it is possible that Apple chooses a different name when The application will be published. Anyway, we could get our first look in the coming days.
Confetti against more storage space
There is a lot to love in iCloud, and this allows a range of solid features from Apple. I use it to save my iPhone, keep track of my devices with Find MY, and discharge my photos on the cloud to release the storage space. And although confetti resembles a welcome update of the Calendar application, it seems that Apple still did not address the elephant in the room.
This problem is the base storage level of iCloud. Apple offers a free iCloud level, but it comes with a meager 5 GB of storage space. Compare this to some of the best free cloud storage options like Google Drive and Samsung Cloud, which both grant 15 GB for free.
Each year, Apple improves the photography capacities of its iPhones and allows them to take more and more detailed (and always larger) photos. Although this is a commendable decision, it means that your iPhone will fill faster than ever – and with only 5 GB of free storage in iCloud, makes payment of additional space more necessary than ever. It is a hidden cost to have an iPhone that many users have to pay, including me.
Do not get me wrong, confetti resemble a useful addition to the iCloud arsenal, and I am happy to see that it is on the way. But if the choice was between confetti and a more generous free storage allowance, I know what I would choose.
