- Apple iOS 18.4 update will add new features to the Photos Application
- Some of the new features include new filtering options and a new confidentiality parameter
- iOS 18.4 could happen via official release from April
The next Apple software update – iOS 18.4 – is currently tested in public developers and beta, and according to 9TO5MAC, you can expect a general deployment from April.
While we were originally waiting on the basis of rumors according to which we would have our first preview of the SIRI infused at AI, the first beta of iOS 18.4 have shown no sign, and Apple has since confirmed a delay in all of the features. Even so we have noticed four major changes to the Apple Photos application that we cannot ignore.
Upgrades to Apple Photos filter options are only one of the new features we guess a few weeks ago, and the new images that surfaced from its beta tests show that we have guessed correctly. The four new features are relatively small but offer more flexibility in the management of your privacy and the research and organization of photos in your gallery.
They are all ready to be very useful if you rely on the Photos application to manage all your photographs. So, before Apple drops iOS 18.4 for the iPhone – alongside iPados and macOS – take a look at the latest additions to the photo application.
Album confidentiality features
In recent years, Apple has doubled its confidentiality features in its photos application, and iOS 18.4 will continue to do so with a new option to deactivate albums.
Once installed, you will be able to deactivate your “recently consulted” and “recently shared” galleries by entering the Settings application and selecting “Applications” then “Photos”. Once disabled, these albums can be consulted only in public services.
New filter features in your gallery

Instead of spending many amounts of time scrolling your gallery to find a specific image that you want to modify or show your friends, Apple Photos has many filtering options to make it much more manageable.
The iOS 18.4 update contains two new filtering options, “Shared With You” and “Not in An Album”, which are under the two arrow icons at the bottom left.
This feature will facilitate the distinction between the photos that others have sent you, as well as those that you have not yet sorted in the albums. In addition, you will also find new sorting features when you go to albums and press the three points in the upper right corner, which will allow you to filter only to display albums or only files.
Album sorting has become easier
You can already sort your photo albums in two categories, “Tri by Name” and “Trier by personalized order”, and a third arrives with iOS 18.4. The new “Modified sorting by date” will organize your albums and files in an order that shows your most recently modified at the top.
Recover and delete photos at a time
This is not necessarily a new addition to the Photos Application, but even more an overhaul of an existing feature that allows you to delete and recover all your photos at a time.
In iOS 18.4, your photo album “ recently deleted ” will include a new trash icon that you can press to delete all your photos permanently deleted. Alternatively, the same thing works with the recovery of your photos when you press the new “Recover All” button.
