- Apple has just upgraded the entry -level iPad, now nicknamed the iPad (A16)
- The new A16 chip is up to 50% faster than the previous generation, but does not support Apple Intelligence
- It maintains the same price and doubles starting storage
In addition to unveiling the new generation iPad Air with the M3 chip, Apple has also upgraded the entry -level iPad – but it may not be the upgrade you expected. The good news is that it is always available in a few fun colors and retains the same starting price. Like the iPad Mini (A17 Pro), it is now iPad (A16), with the name of the processor in the title.
The new iPad starts at $ 349 / £ 329 / $ 599 in. Instead of 64 GB of storage, it comes with 128 GB of internal storage for beginners. This means that you will have more space for applications, photos and files, among others.
It is the first product launched by Apple in recent memory that does not support Apple Intelligence. The new iPad is fueled by the A16 chip, which should offer even better performance for the entry -level model with a 5 -core CPU, a 4 -core GPU and a 16 -core neural engine on the previous A14 Bionic chip. However, this chip is not capable of Apple’s intelligence, so it is important to keep this in mind and to weigh the importance of these features.
However, iPados 18 should work very well here and be in good shape for the game, streaming, publishing, web navigation and calls Facetime, among others. Apple says that compared to the previous generation, it is up to 50% faster and that “A16 makes the iPad updated up to 6x faster than the best -selling Android tablet”. We just don’t know what Android Tablet Apple compares.
Even without Apple Intelligence, the iPad now eleventh generation with the A16 chip always retains a USB-C port for the load, an ID touch sensor in the power button and the support of two key accessories-the first generation Apple Crayer, Apple Cray with USB-C and the Folio of the Magic Keyboard, which likes more customization than the appropriate magic keyboard.
Interestingly, the iPad (A16) seems to have a slightly larger display than the previous generation. It now measures an 11 -inch liquid retina display (resolution 2360 x 1640) with the care of the true tone compared to the liquid retina display of 10.9 inches of tenth generation of the iPad.
Apple notes that the iPad always has rounded corners, so the “real visible area is less” in the “Tech Specs” section of the site, but we will have to see once we can be accessible if the glasses have been narrowed.
The iPad always sticks to a 12 -megapixel camera at the back and a 12 -megapixel camera at the front with the central scene to keep you automatically as part of the calls. To complete the specifications, the stereo landscape speakers, the double microphones to capture audio, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3. If you opt for the cellular model, it will always support 5G Sub6 GHz, but there is no MMWAVE support, similar to the iPhone 16th.
Like the iPad Air with M3, you can pre -order the iPad (A16) now if you are already sold and will be officially launched on March 12, 2025.
