“Appointment of judges in the context”

Islamabad:

The adviser of the PM on law and justice, Barister Aqeel Malik, rejected allegations on Sunday according to which the 26th constitutional amendment aimed to control the judicial power.

Addressing a private news channel, he declared that the 26th constitutional reform ensures the rule of law and the separation of powers. The 26th amendment was a step towards legal transparency and constitutional supremacy, he added.

Responding to criticism that the government influences judicial appointments, he said that the appointment of judges remains within the constitutional framework.

He rejected the accusations that the government installs favorite judges before the high lessons through provincial appointments.
