After scoring, Jesus revealed a t-shirt that read: “I belong to Jesus.”

Jesus was asked about his shirt and answered openly.

“Jesus saved my life from the beginning, when I was born, I didn’t know it yet. Through the difficult times of my life, I realized that we are nothing without Jesus, so I want to glorify his name. He made a huge difference in those difficult times. So now, in the shining moment, I want to glorify his name,” Jesus said.

“To start the year the way I was playing, I got my confidence back, and for some reason the Lord stopped me, and then I was able to do better as a person, as a human being. I think it’s amazing how Jesus works in our lives. Sometimes you keep questioning yourself, doubting yourself, but you never know what’s going to happen, what Jesus has prepared for you. So I just say keep going, trust to the process and trusting Jesus.”

The goal was Jesus’ first in almost an exact calendar year after suffering an ACL injury in January. He is not included in the team’s roster for the UEFA Champions League, but can participate in the team’s other matches.

Fellow Brazilian footballer Kaka wore a similar jersey in 2007.

Jesus actually received a yellow card for taking off his shirt, but for him it was certainly worth it.

Jesus plans to play for Brazil in the World Cup this summer. He was part of the team in 2022 but missed action due to a knee injury suffered during the group stage.
