Lahore:
In a movement to strengthen aviation safety and security, the Punjab attachment service imposed article 144 within a radius of 15 kilometers from all airports and air force bases (PAF) across the province.
The restrictions will be in force from June 5 to June 20.
Under the order, a complete ban was placed on the flight of pigeons, fireworks, the use of drones or laser lights and the elimination of animal waste in the designated perimeter.
The decision was made in the interest of protecting human lives and goods and ensuring the proper functioning of the flight services.
The secretary of the Punjab published the restrictions under article 144 (6) of the Criminal Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898, citing that such activities constitute serious threats to flight safety and operations.
The open elimination of sacrificial remains, in particular, attracts birds, which may have serious risks for the safety of planes and passengers.
The guidelines apply uniformly in all civil airports and PAF air bases in Punjab.
All the sub-commissioners were invited to ensure strict implementation of the prohibition and to maintain increased cleanliness in the areas surrounding airports and bases.
A spokesperson for the Punjab home service stressed that this decision is a preventive measure to mitigate potential dangers during the Eidul Azha period, at a time when cases of open waste and party activities are traditionally increasing.
