President Asif Ali Zardari met Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan during a brief stopover in Istanbul de Turkiye, while on the way to Portugal.

The meeting took place at the Istanbul airport state -of -the -art guest house before President Erdogan left for Malaysia.

Zardari, who was preparing to leave Türkiye, met the Turkish chief before a planned press conference.

According to a statement published by the president’s press wing in Islamabad, President Zardari was warmly welcomed by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan when he arrived. The two leaders exchanged jokes before engaging in a productive discussion on various questions of mutual interest.

The objective of their conversation was to strengthen bilateral relations between Pakistan and Turkiye, the fight against common concerns and lane exploration for additional cooperation, Express News reported.

The leaders highlighted the importance of the lasting friendship of their country and the common commitment to regional peace and stability.

This diplomatic commitment comes at a time when the two nations seek to extend their links in trade, defense and cultural exchanges.

Meanwhile, President Zardari visits Portugal to express his condolences after the death of Prince Karim Aga Khan.
