- Asus gave us the details of its RTX 5070 launch models
- Three versions of the RTX 5070 are being launched, and one is at PDSFP
- However, the other two RTX 5070 variants seem at high cost, and there are clues that the stock could be rare (in addition to rumors saying the same)
Asus has revealed details on its RTX 5070 graphics cards for the launching day of this new NVIDIA GPU – which is today, in case it has escaped your attention – and this is not good news. Unfortunately, this more or less confirms our fears around the potential scarcity of stock and the probability of swollen pricing.
Videocardz was kind enough to notice Asus’ message on Reddit describing the launch details of the RTX 5070, and there will be three models available to buy later in the day (in less than a few hours, in theory).
The new positive is that there is a model of Asus that makes its debut at the official PDSF set by Nvidia, which costs $ 550 in the United States. This is the primary entry -level flavor of the RTX 5070 (and it will probably be in accordance with the recommended prices of Nvidia in other regions).
If you want the Prime OC model, however – the overclocked version of this basic graphics card – Asus has increased the price requested at $ 700.
You will need a bigger wallet to prevail from the ASUS TUF Gaming edition of the RTX 5070, which tips the scale at $ 740 – What I should note is only $ 750 MSRP for the RTX 5070 Ti, a much higher graphics card.
These are the prices you will find on the Asus online store in the United States and other retailers who should follow these PDSP. In addition, these are the only three models that are launched today, which, as I will discuss then, is another worrying sign.
Analysis: premium mover, but prime oc – not so much
The fact that ASUS begins only with three RTX 5070 models is a fairly heavy index that the stock will be very light, as well as the suggestions have been abandoned elsewhere in this Reddit position. There is an ASUS ROG Stix version of RTX 5070, we are told, but it will not be on sale from the start.
Asus says: “Unfortunately, ROG Stix cards will not be available on day 1. There is currently no ETA for when these cards are available.”
It sounds quite dark, then, and Asus does not seem to hope that the high -end model will come out anytime soon. When you consider this in the cold light of all rumors on the RTX 5070 with bad supply levels, it seems that it is a launch of Nvidia Blackwell of the thin type. A day of land for scalpors and robots, if you want (again).
The ASUS price is also concerned here, pushing what should be a mid-range GPU in the Upper-M-Plage territory. Okay, so this should expect certain high -level personalized graphics cards, but what about the difference between the Asus Prime and the OC premium here – which is $ 700 against $ 550 for a little overclock on the latter. An increase in prices of 27%, in other words.
Admittedly, we do not know how an overclocking – Asus has still not listed boost speeds for these cards, they are always “ tbd ” on official specification pages – but we can still look at the same privileged OC variants of RTX 5080 to have a good idea of what to expect.
So what should you expect? In the case of the RTX 5080, the prime of overclocks over a total of 45 MHz up to the speed of the maximum clock (reaching 2685 MHz against 2640 MHz). Okay, you will therefore get a better quality of construction with the board, without a doubt, and perhaps more overclocking for enthusiasts – but an increase in prices of 27% with the overclocking version of RTX 5070 of the premium feels … opportunistic at best, at worst cynical.
Because ASUS knows that these graphics cards will fly away from the shelves, and therefore people will probably pay a considerable premium to secure one (and avoid paying a lot more than a scalper bonus, potentially).
At least, the first level of range is at its PDSF, but there is also a doubt around this, Videocardz being skeptical as to whether a price increase could be applied in a short time after the launch of today. Will this card hold at the PDSF level beyond this week? Well, perhaps, to be fair, because the basic model of the RTX 5070 Ti is still held at $ 750 (on the Asus online store, and in Newegg, for example).
But that raises the question that I have already tackled: why buy the Asus Tuf incarnation of the RTX 5070, which remembers is launched at $ 740, when you can rather get the Prime 5070 Ti variant, for only ten dollars more? (If he was not in stock, that is to say).
The ti spin is so much better, after all, and that would absolutely not make sense to get the tuf 5070. Unless, of course, the only model really available, and you are desperate To obtain a slice of the Blackwell action from Nvidia. That said, the stock of the RTX 5070 is almost guaranteed to be trembling at this stage, given all rumors, and therefore this question will probably be entirely theoretical in the day, when sales of the RTX 5070 are live for a few milliseconds – then the inventories were dry.
We will see, but the way Asus has aligned prices for these RTX 5070 models does not make much sense (apart from the point of view of the profits).
