At least 30 killed in the iiojk landslide after heavy rains

On Wednesday, at least 30 people were killed while heavy rains sparked a landslide on the Hindu pilgrimage in Jammu and the cashmere of Indian origin on Wednesday, according to the Indian news agency of the Ani. Citizens were warned to stay inside at night.

The meteorological office has planned more rain for the Himalayas region covering the federal territory of the region and the mountainous Ladakh.

The authorities were trying to restore telecommunications services in the region where communication was “almost nonexistent,” said Omar Abdullah, the chief minister.

The landslide near the Sanctuary of Vahno Devi on the pilgrim’s route killed at least 30 people, said Anima.

The authorities also ordered the closure of educational institutions in the region, which, according to meteorological officials, was dropped with 368 mm (14.5 inches) of rain on Tuesday.

The disaster was the last in a series of showers in the Himalayan region, which killed 60 people and left 200 missing in Kishtwar, Iiojk, last week.

In early August, the floods and landslides launched by heavy rains in the state of the Himalayas in India, in Uttarakhand, killed four people and left dozens missing, while the showers hampered the lifeline.

Previously, India has experienced several devastating disasters linked to rain, especially in its Himalayan regions.

India receives most of its annual precipitation during the southwest monsoon, which occurs from June to September.

Although this seasonal rain is vital for agriculture and the means of subsistence of millions, it also brings intense showers which often overwhelm the infrastructure of the region, resulting in generalized floods and damage.
