A police officer was martyred and three others injured after unidentified armed men opened fire on their vehicle near Choto along the national road in the Mastung district on Friday, provincial officials announced.
According to a spokesperson for the Balutchistan government, the targeted vehicle belonged to an acting assistant support for the police (DSP). The injured were transported to the neighboring hospital for immediate medical assistance.
“The security forces were sent to the site and a research operation is underway to trace the attackers,” said the spokesperson.
Shahid Rind, another provincial official, confirmed that the attack seemed to be a targeted assault on the officer’s vehicle.
The authorities have not yet provided details on the reason or the identity of the attackers.
